Off Cut Bookcase
Where Sustainable Craft Becomes Sculptural Storage in Harmonious Imperfection
Product Description
Living Divani Off Cut Bookcase: A masterfully conceived modular bookshelf born from a philosophy of sustainability and design integrity. This piece is constructed by assembling interlocking laths of solid wood, each one carefully repurposed from off-cuts of other furniture pieces — transforming material remnants into a new expression of beauty, rhythm, and purpose.
The structure is composed of solid wood splints (20x20 mm thickness), meticulously sorted, finished, and assembled to form a dynamic geometric composition. Rather than concealing its origins, the bookcase celebrates them — each variation in grain, tone, and texture adds character, making every unit unique.
Available in two refined finishes:
- Charcoal-dyed oak – deep, modern contrast with rich undertones
- "Canaletto" walnut – warm, sophisticated elegance
All surfaces are protected with a water-based acrylic paint finish, ensuring durability while maintaining environmental responsibility and preserving the tactile quality of the wood.
Storage functionality is enhanced by six shelves made from transparent tempered glass (6 mm thick). These clear surfaces offer secure display space for books, objects, or décor while visually lightening the composition — allowing light to pass through and reducing visual mass.
At the base, the lower shelf is always crafted from solid wood, matching the finish of the vertical laths. Integrated within this base is a stabilizer weight, ensuring balance and safety — especially important given the open, interlocked nature of the structure.
This intelligent fusion of reclaimed materials, structural precision, and functional clarity makes the Off Cut Bookcase not just a storage solution, but a statement on responsible design.
